Saturday 4th June saw Billingham Rugby Club hosting the Durham County 7s and Ian Brown Memorial Trophy. The weather did not deter the ten teams who competed for the Elite and Social titles. Durham University RFU completed their hat trick of County Sevens titles, and won a place in the Regional Final of the England RFU 24Sevens series in Leeds next month.
The club welcomed teams from across the county and from Catterick Garrison, with the 4th Scots Highlanders team worthy runners up to Consett RFU in the Social competition.
Players, supporters and families enjoyed the microbeer festival and live bands throughout the afternoon and into the evening. This was a great day overall: thanks to the people working tirelessly behind the scenes to organise the event and keep it runnning smoothly. Looking forward to an even bigger and better day next year!
