Quiet but not to be underestimated!!

Tonight I have caught up with fleet footed Luke Bain. Capable of playing 9 or in the centres. Luke possesses an abundance of skills and speed putting in some sterling performances for the 3TM and Lions respectively.

1. How old were you when you started playing rugby?
I started playing rugby when I was 11 introduced to it by Stewy usher at campus.

2. What was your first rugby memory?
My first memory would be the first school match I played in being very nervous and getting beat 57-0. Won’t ever forget that.

3. Who was your role model and why?
My role model was Jonny Wilkinson I actually read his book believe it or not I can read !!and obviously watched him nail the drop goal which won us the World Cup ! Just always composed on the pitch very professional at all times.

4. Can you remember your first training session with Billingham?
My first training session at billingham I was introduced to Sean Willis who was the coach he was very friendly and his hands were like shovels and then when the session begun I will never forget the time Craig dropped a ball and Sean just shouting with his big voice he has that was scary but loved every minute!

5. What do you eat before a big match?
Before a big match I’ll try and eat something half reasonable and it’s usually a breakfast at other half’s house made by her mam and if I’m at home I’ll have 3 dippy eggs and toast plenty of lurpak.

6. Describe your perfect weekend.
Perfect weekend would be Friday it’s naughty if I’m playing then next day ,I’ll go out few pints and kebab maybe. Saturday game day hoping for a win and no hat-tricks as they cost me a fortune last season haha !! Then few beers with the lads then home! (Keep myself in the good books) then Sunday pop to the shop loads of sweets and junk food and just watch movies or catch up on the walking dead !

7. What’s been your career highlight?
Career highlight would be the whole second year of the colts our squad was awesome only one loss in the QF’S of the national cup ! We won cock of the north, the league cup and the county cup. Just a team that was together as one and everyone played with 100% every game loved it.

8. What one tip would you give a young person looking to succeed
I would say don’t be shy get involved get to know everyone and make ur presence known. Just be your best self on the pitch!

9.What’s the next goal in your rugby career?
My next goal would be to train a lot more and push myself to be better. Play 2XV a lot more regular and try and push further on from there.

Keep grafting Luke
