We’re coming to the start of the season for 24/25. How have you spent your off season?

It's been nice to switch off from the 15's season to be honest, but been playing alot of 7's throughout May/June, so I feel like my body hasn't had much of a rest. However it's a great opportunity for me to focus on CrossFit, something which I believe has been a huge help in my performances on the pitch.

Im now looking forward to the build up to pre-season games and for the first game of the season against newly promoted Harrogate.

What was your individual highlight for last season?

I have a couple to be honest;

I would say one of my proudest moments last season was having the opportunity to captain the team against Leeds Tykes.

Another was receiving the coaches' player award, it was great to be recognised and appreciated for the efforts from Pete & Danno.

Onwards and upwards.

What was your highlight of someone else?

Its difficult to pick just one particular highlight from an individual- but one thing which I love seeing, particularly last season, was lads having an opportunity to put the shirt for the first time, it is great to see how much it means to them.

Knowing the demands of National Rugby, How will you develop your performance moving forward?

I think in terms of moving forward for me, I need to continue to develop my physical attributes, something which was a strength of mine last season and found a lot of success from it.

It is important for me to continue to not only to perform on the pitch, but as a senior player, support the younger lads coming in to the squad and guide them in a competitive, high-paced senior environment.

Goals for the season ahead?

Personal goals for me is to continue to perform on the pitch by leading from the front.

Play as much as I can, whilst balancing outside commitments with work.

What’s your playing style?

High work rate, good skillset, enjoy carrying the ball direct and getting on the end of an offload.

Who are you looking forward to facing this season?

In terms of a good challenge, Leeds Tykes.

What does a pre match morning look like?

Varies depending on if it's an early start. But for a home match;

Wake up, porridge, eggs on toast, coffee, pack bags, bit of music in the car to get me going thinking about some personal targets for the match.

Why choose Billingham?

I have been at the club (having a year away in between) for 12 years. It is a thriving club with fantastic facilities, who pride ourselves on being a professional amateur team, and I believe we do that, and more.

As a player, you play and train in an environment where players continue to push themselves to strive to be better, yet still being able to have a laugh with your mates, which is a great balance.

It's a great club which continues to grow and expand, if you are a player who fancies a challenge and wants to push themselves, then get yourself down.
