Another away trip, this time to one of our closest rivals, Houghton. Previous
meetings have produced some great but close games. Houghton had paired up with
Peterlee & Horden for this so we expected a blockbuster! Billingham started in
perfect fashion with a quick try not long after kick off after some great off loading and
excellent running lines. The girls took advantage of the forwards strength and backs
speed taking the game out of sight at half time leading 0-40. Tries from Sophie,
McKenna, neve who also kicked a conversion, summer getting 2 and Jessie getting
her first try!!! We took our foot off the gas at start of 2nd half and Houghton were very
good in the ruck, getting there quickly and turning us over which resulted in them
getting points on the board. Spurred on by this the girls worked hard to contest the
rucks and worked the ball out wide for the remaining tries with kacey getting over the
line twice, before the ref called the game at 7-52. This was an excellent result
making it back to back wins for Billingham. Forward of the match went to Phoebe
who was outstanding in the scrum winning strikes and aggression with the ball in
hand! Back of the match went to Amy, still recovering from injury made her pace and
strength known! Some great takes under the high ball and faultless from the tee
kicking 5 conversions! All the girls did really well. It wasn’t pretty at times but this
group of girls always find a way. Next Darlington in the Cup and the centre of the
