League rugby returns!

After a frantic last game of the season against Rotherham Titans where a last gasp Dan Dixon try saw Billingham remain in National 2 North, its now back to it.

It has been a strange time in the off season with a number of players moving on. Now this wasn't unexpected. Conversations had been had with the coaching team. Players returning to their home clubs, players moving away to players dropping down levels as they plan for the next stages of their lives. Its allowed the coaching team to plan. We have a great group of players and now to boot some very good signings. The age of the senior group has dropped and with the talent coming through the juniors, it is an exciting time at Billingham.

We welcome Harrogate to Greenwood Road for the first game of the season which will be a belter of an opener.

Both sides have faced each other before but the stakes are different this time. This time its National rugby!

Harrogate won Regional 1 NE last season having saw off Heath to gain promotion. They are coached by the talented and former England International Dan Scarborough. They host a number of very talented players which were also picked in the North Rugby's Team of the Year.. Harrogate are no strangers to National League rugby having been a consistent Nat 2 North team for many years. Harrogate have a very robust pack and a clinical backline and will be a somewhat different side to that Billingham faced in 2020.

Billingham as mentioned have a new look squad with some mainstays. Elliott Husband will continue his role as Captain and will be crucial in bringing this squad together. A positive result against Durham University will mean nothing if it is not followed up against Harrogate. There are a few potential league debuts on offer with a number of new signings pushing for a place in the 1st XV squad.
