Match report by Charlie Evans.
Consett v Billingham
Having played Consett and winning the week before in the County Cup, we knew we couldn’t go in thinking it was going to be another win.
The game commenced with a Billingham kick off from Lewin Tubuna with hits straight away from Joe Syson and Charlie Evans. Billingham took control of the ball and a try from Riley Ward which was to be the first of many. After a tidy 8 man scrum, Charlie Evans picked the ball up and with no one catching him, comfortably scored the second try. The constant pressure from Billingham gave us more opportunities and the trys kept coming with Jackson Bell breaking free and running the full length of the pitch for another try.
Consett came out after half time and continued to give it their all, getting through for their only try of the game. Joe Syson was like a rhino hunting down his prey with hit after hit!
Charlie Evans was very proud of his fly hacking technique, kicking it twice to then pick up and score a great try.
All the Billingham lads played a huge part in the win today especially with no subs, showing our strength and pace in what finished to be a great result.
Despite the score consett kept going throughout and we're great hosts on the day. Thank you to the consett coach for reffing the game after a late withdrawal.
Man of the Match went to Will Cooper and Charlie Evans from the opposition
